Everyone knows the importance of taking care of our physical body and mind. It is no different when it comes to our spirit. We need to get enough rest and lead a reasonably healthy lifestyle to develop a strong psychic well being. If our bodies nervous systems are weak then our psychic system will be weak also. Physical health and psychic health are interlinked. If your physical energy is exhausted or down in some way we can easily be overwhelmed by changes in your energy field that would not normally bother you in any way. It is important to check your sleeping patterns as well as your level of alcohol, cigarettes, drugs of any kind and caffeine. Don't get me wrong we all have times when we drink wine, eat sweets and meat or over indulge in some way, but the point is when working spiritually you do have to protect your energy field.
The key to protection is grounding
Grounding yourself gives you a stable psychic foundation. It allows you to work freely while at the same time being focused on your psychic and spiritual work.
If you are not grounded one of the symptoms can be feeling cut off from your guidance. Also you may feel you are being easily influenced by the thoughts and emotions of others, including spirit communicators energy around you.
Here are some quick fix grounding exercises
My favourite, imagine roots growing out of the bottom of your feet and sinking deep into the earth.
See yourself as a tree with strong roots planted into the ground.
Imagine a camera lens bringing you into sharp focus.
Imagine yourself being zipped into a protective body suit.
Of course there are many other ways you could do it, including having a cup of tea and something to eat. However, you won't put any weight on with examples above.
Another Grounding Exercise to try
Breath deeply and imagine your energy is sinking into the the ground, it is warm moist earth. Breath out any energy that is blocking you in any way, any blocks you feel to your development, allow it to sink into the earth. In its place allow earths energy to travel up through your feet into each and every chakra point, cleaning and energising you all the way up to the crown. Now imagine a golden light energy moving down from the crown, down your back, the spine and releasing back into the earth.
To finish just wiggle your toes in the earth and breath slowly in and out. Open your eyes, relax. You should now be energised and grounded.
Another good way to ground is to carry grounding crystals such as black agate, black obsidian, black tourmaline, even amethyst is a grounding crystal.
